Today we celebrate the fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, and our Lord is once again reminding us of the beautiful opportunity we have to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth, through good works, by bearing fruit for the glory of his name. And we do that every time we hear His word and put it into action in our lives, and every time we really try wholeheartedly to live and implement God’s will in our lives.
In questa quinta domenica del Tempo Ordinario, la Parola di Dio ci richiama con forza alla nostra vocazione di essere luce del mondo e sale della terra attraverso le opere buone. Il profeta Isaia ci mostra una felicità che non è rumorosa né trionfalistica, ma radicata nella fiducia e nella pace che vengono da Dio: “Condividi il pane con l’affamato, introduci in casa i miseri senza tetto, vesti chi vedi nudo” (Is 58,7). È una felicità fatta di verità, di silenzio interiore, di sicurezza nel sapere a chi apparteniamo. Non nasce dal successo o dall’autosufficienza, ma dall’essere custoditi dal Signore e dal vivere nella sua luce.
