My dear brothers and sisters, in today’s readings we get a glimpse into what betrayal means, how it can wound us, and how we are to take the higher road and not exact vengeance. When somebody hurts us, it is not easy to try to be merciful, to let bygones be bygones, and to allow God to work in that situation.
Nei testi di oggi la Parola ci introduce nel mistero del tradimento, nella ferita profonda che esso provoca, e nella chiamata a non rispondere con la vendetta. Davide e Gesù ci mostrano una via più alta. Davide, pur essendo perseguitato ingiustamente da Saul, rifiuta di colpire l’unto del Signore (cf. 1 Sam 26). Anche quando avrebbe avuto l’occasione perfetta per eliminare chi voleva la sua morte, sceglie la misericordia e affida il giudizio a Dio, che agisce nei suoi tempi.
