Wednesday – 15th Week in Ordinary Time – A – Memorial of Saint Bonaventure, Bishop and Doctor of the Church
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today in the Church we celebrate the beautiful feast of Saint Bonaventure, the Seraphic Doctor, who lived between 1217 and 1274, who, as we know, was very much influenced by the life and the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi, his founder, for Saint Bonaventure was a Friar Minor. And he stands alongside Saint Thomas Aquinas as one of the greatest theologians in the history of the Church. His theology possesses a distinctly Franciscan heart, however, while Saint Thomas's emphasizes the Dominican perspective of salvation and Christ.
