Thursday – 22nd Week in Ordinary Time – A – Memorial of Saint Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church
Today we celebrate the feast and the memorial of a great successor of Saint Peter, one of our great popes and Doctors of the Church, Saint Gregory the Great. Saint Gregory was born in Rome, lucky him, around 540 and died on March 12th, 604. He became pope in 590 and served faithfully until his death. His liturgical memorial is celebrated today on September 3rd, and the traditional date associated with his episcopal consecration is this very day.
